Totems of Peace
On the morning of March 22nd, 2016, Brussels was hit with the deadliest act of terrorism in its history. Three bombs, two at the airport and one in the metro station, killed 32 civilians and left hundreds injured.
As soon as I heard about the bombing I rushed to Maelbeek station.
I saw the dismay in people’s faces and the horror of victims being evacuated.
Documenting the aftermath of the bombs was powerful and tragic, but it didn’t capture the resiliency of the city’s people.
Transnistria, a country that doesn't exist
Transnistria, the East part of Moldova, is a self reclaimed Russian enclave. It's run by the Sheriff family, owning all gas stations, banks, and even the national soccer team.
Before the Milk
A small village somewhere in Germany. The farmer feeds his cattle every day, morning and evening, and brings his cows to the stable where his wife will take care of the milking.
Small scale farming is vanishing in Europe in a fast pace.Farmers can't hold up against the mega farms and low prices.

The Dutch sold NY
Leaving your home country for a new place. We think about immigration concerning war, the middle east, Suriname, Syria, Turkey, Ukraine.
But in the fifties, just after the Second WW, so many people from Western Europe went to live the American dream overseas.
Those immigrants to the United States also hold on to their (Dutch) roots. It marked me when visiting them, the mingle between American and Dutch culture.
The story says the Dutch sold NY in change of Suriname.
Christmas with the Gilets Jaunes
Les Gilets Jaunes De France in a remote village in the South of France, occupying a roundabout. They stopped every car to convince them of their cause. They stayed on the roundabout every day, even on Christmasdays keeping themselves warm with an open fire or by playing some Petanque
Seeing America
Seeing America is about the upperclass in NY state. The contrast that is almost invisible, when seeing the immigrant doing the lawn, or doing that prayer towards Mekka while the happy few BBQ at the club.
